Painting Time

Use a paintbrush and water-based paints to create a colorful picture.

Materials

• washable paint
• paintbrush
• paper
• cup of water

1. Set up a painting station — paper down, paint open, cup of water for rinsing the brush. 2. Show your little one how to dip the brush, wipe off the extra, and paint a stroke. 3. Let them paint whatever they want. Narrate what you see: "Oh, big blue swooshes!" 4. Remind them to rinse between colors so the colors stay bright. 5. Let it dry and hang it up somewhere they can see it.
