Breathing Power

Practice taking deep breaths and learn how our lungs work.

1. Put your hands on your ribs. Breathe in deep — feel them spread out? Those are your lungs filling up with air. 2. Breathe out and feel them shrink back. 3. Explain that lungs are like two balloons inside your chest. They grab the good stuff from air and push out the used-up stuff. 4. Try breathing in for 4 counts, out for 4 counts. Do it three times together. 5. Talk about how deep breathing can help when you feel angry, scared, or worried.
