Pretend to be wizards — make a wand, cast silly spells, and mix a potion.

Materials

• stick or chopstick for a wand
• cup of water
• food coloring or juice (optional)

1. Hand your little one a stick or chopstick — that's their magic wand. 2. Make up silly spells together: "Abra cadabra, turn this shoe into a cookie!" 3. Wave the wand and pretend it worked (or didn't — "Oops, it turned into a sock!"). 4. Mix a "potion" — water in a cup with a drop of food coloring. Stir and name it. 5. Let them make up their own spells and potions.
