Real Sorry

Your child practices the three parts of a real apology: what I did, how you felt, what I'll do next time.

Category: Emotional Growth · Duration: ~7 min

1. Explain: "A real sorry has three parts. Let me show you." Use a stuffed animal example: "I'm sorry I took your toy. I think that made you sad. Next time I'll ask first." 2. Break it down: Part 1 — what I did. Part 2 — how you probably felt. Part 3 — what I'll do differently. 3. Practice with pretend scenarios: you bumped someone, you grabbed a crayon, you said something mean. 4. Let your little one try each one. Coach gently — "What do you think they felt?" 5. Say, "A real sorry fixes things. Just the word 'sorry' by itself sometimes isn't enough."
