Backyard Bugs

Go outside and look for ants, butterflies, and other tiny creatures up close.

Category: Math & Science · Duration: ~10 min

1. Head outside together and crouch down low — bugs live close to the ground. 2. Look under a rock or near a plant. Point out any ants, beetles, or caterpillars you spot. 3. Watch what they're doing. Ask your little one: where do you think it's going? 4. Talk about how ants carry food, butterflies drink from flowers, and caterpillars turn into butterflies. 5. Before heading in, count how many different bugs you found.
