Practice cleaning up a spill using a towel or sponge

Materials

• towel or sponge

1. Intentionally spill a small amount of water on the table or floor. "Oops! What should we do?" 2. Hand them a towel or sponge. Show them: press down, wipe in one direction. 3. Let them do it. "You cleaned it up all by yourself!" 4. Next time a real spill happens, point to the towels: "You know what to do."

Tip

Keep a small towel within their reach so they can grab it without asking.
