Tiny Crawlers

Hunt for snails, slugs, and roly-polies hiding in damp spots around the yard.

1. After rain or in a shady spot, look under leaves, logs, or flower pots together. 2. If you find a snail, point out its shell and the slimy trail it leaves behind. 3. Watch how slowly it moves. Ask your little one to walk as slowly as a snail. 4. Talk about how these little creatures like dark, wet places — that's their favorite home. 5. Gently put any rocks or logs back the way you found them.
