Materials

• toy phone or old phone

1. Ring ring! Hand them a toy phone or old phone. 2. Show them: pick up, say "Hello, this is [name]." Listen. Then say "Goodbye!" 3. Practice: you call from another room. They answer, you have a short conversation, they say goodbye. 4. Teach the rule: if someone calls for a grown-up, say "Hold on, please" and come get you. 5. Practice that version too: "Hello. Hold on, please. MOMMY! Phone for you!"
