Ask 'Why is the sky blue?' and explore the answer together with a flashlight and a glass of water.
Category: Math & Science · Duration: ~7 min
Materials
- flashlight
- glass of water
- drop of milk
1. Ask your little one: "Why do you think the sky is blue?" 2. Accept any answer, then say: "Let me show you something cool." 3. Fill a glass with water and add a tiny drop of milk. Shine a flashlight through it. 4. The light looks slightly blue because tiny particles scatter blue light — just like the sky. 5. Keep it simple: "The sun's light hits tiny bits in the air, and blue light bounces all over the place. That's what we see!"
