1. Ask: "What do you think an island is?" Guide them: land with water all around it. 2. Find Hawaii, Japan, or any island on the map. 3. "How would you get there? You'd have to fly or take a boat!" 4. Draw your own island: what would be on it? A volcano? A beach? A fort? 5. Give your island a name together.
