Being Honest

Talk about the difference between the truth, a lie, and a white lie using simple examples.

Category: Social Skills · Duration: ~5 min

1. Start simple: "The truth is what really happened. A lie is saying something that didn't happen." 2. Give examples: "I ate an apple." (If they did = truth.) "I ate a dinosaur." (Lie — and silly!) 3. Ask: "Why does telling the truth matter?" Because people trust us. Trust is how friendships work. 4. Tricky one: "What if Grandma gives you a gift you don't love? Do you say 'I hate it'?" Introduce kindness: "We say 'thank you!' We don't have to lie, but we can be kind." 5. Remind them: "I'll always be proud of you for telling the truth."
