• dark paper or regular paper colored dark
• bright crayons or chalk

1. If you have dark paper, great. If not, color a sheet with dark crayon first. 2. Use bright colors to draw fireworks — big starbursts, trails, circles. 3. Talk about the Fourth of July: "It's our country's birthday! We celebrate with fireworks." 4. Make firework sounds while drawing — "Boom! Pop! Crackle!" 5. Count the fireworks on your picture together.
