Light Switch

Practice turning lamps on and off and learn what makes them work.

1. Find a table lamp or floor lamp together. 2. Let your little one find the switch — it might be a knob, a button, or a pull chain. 3. Click! "What happened?" On and off a few times. 4. Explain simply: "The lamp needs electricity — it travels through the cord from the wall to the light bulb." 5. Talk about when we turn lights on (dark room) and off (leaving the room, saving energy). "We turn them off when we leave — that's being a good helper."
