• a simple board game (checkers, Chinese checkers, or similar)

1. Set up the board together. Name each piece and where it goes. 2. Explain one rule at a time — don't dump all the rules at once. 3. Play a practice round where you talk through every move out loud. 4. Let your little one make their own decisions, even if they're not strategic yet. 5. The goal is fun and understanding turns, not winning.
